The Festival of His Lotus Feet

Śrīla Guru Mahārāj composed a śloka that beautifully explains how we connect with the Lord and His service through the sādhu. This śloka is the very, very dearest and highest śloka for me in life. Still so much light comes to me from this śloka and I am fully satisfied with this śloka.

Gurudev’s Drop of Mercy

Jewel in Hand

A Real Vaishnava

Once I was with Srila Guru Maharaj, Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, and a pilgrimage party in the Mathura Railway station. We had a group of about sixty-five people with us and were travelling in a reserved train carriage. At that time I saw on the platform the leader of the Mayapur party of devotees, Srimad Bhakti Vilas Tirtha Maharaj, who was Prabhupad Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur’s secretary.

My First Lesson

A good Vaishnava’s association is very rare in this mundane world. We may see that everyone has some devotion, but we do not know how much devotion everyone has, and in some persons’ association we may lose our devotional mentality by making Vaishnava-aparadh.

An explanation of ‘Sri Sri Nitai-Chaitanya-Arati’

‘Sri Sri Nitai-Chaitanya-Arati’ composed by Srila Gurudev for the arati to the Deities in our Jagannath Puri Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math. From a lecture by His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, during a stay at Sri Govinda Dham, Australia.

Spiritual Ego

All activity in the illusory environment is done with ego. It is first necessary to avoid ego. Another name for ego is emotion. Sometimes we speak emotionally. That is one kind of ego. It is not so harmful, but our real ego is that we are jiva-souls. “I am a jiva-soul and servant of Krishna.” This is ego, but good ego, because it is our actual position.

Avatar and Avatari

Srila Swami Maharaj gave so much; Srila Guru Maharaj gave more than that. Srila Swami Maharaj arranged to preach Krishna consciousness to the general conditioned souls. He did many different things in many different ways. Over that, Guru Maharaj gave nourishment, very good nourishment, to those conditioned souls.

Inspiring Association

Inspiration is necessary in our lives. A devotee who can inspire us throughout our whole life in our best friend. We may see that we have many friends in this mundane world, but actually our bondage within this world comes through them. Liberation from the mundane world is first of all necessary, and that comes to us through devotees. Devotees maintain their lives in this world, but they do so in the plane of liberation.

Ever-Merciful Gurudev

Mukunda Datta once brought Gadadhar Pandit Goswami to see Pundarik Vidyanidhi. When they met, Gadadhar Pandit saw that Pundarik Vidyanidhi had paraphernalia around him that was like a that of a bhogi [enjoyer], a householder. Gadadhar was a renunciant and did not like this. He thought, “What kind of Vaishnava do I see before me? He is eating very opulent prasadam and has very luxurious paraphernalia around him.”

Original Way to the House of the Soul

Known. That will be demolished.  That is their definition of mukti.  Their language is that triputi-vinash. Triputi-vinash means three is demolished, merged into brahma. And our definition of brahma is different. And our definition of mukti, that is different. Our definition [of] brahma.

Answers to Mauritius Devotees’ Questions

Srila Govinda Maharaj: Sin. But seva not harm you. [In Bengali: amar apna...] But any possibility by other people to offer then not necessary to go myself. If I’m ashuchi (unclean) then not necessary to go myself.

Vrindavan Deity Installation

We are so fortunate by the grace of Srila Guru Maharaj and Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Jiva Goswami, Srila Krishna Dasa Kaviraj Goswami and other Goswamis. Actually not only the Six Goswamis. Here at that time there were so many Goswamis, but all are very blessful to us by their blessings and by their mercy.
