Srila Bhakti Kusum Ashram Maharaj

His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Kusum Ashram Maharaj, appeared on the 8th of March 1951, in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, in a pious family migrated from Spain.

In the process of his spiritual quest Maharaj was attracted by the sacred teachings of His Divine Grace Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj Prabhupada, the Founder Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and took shelter in his holy lotus feet and his glorious mission in January of 1974, when he was 23 years old. He received initiation from Srila Prabhupada, when His Divine Grace visited the temple in the City of Mexico, in February of 1975. At that time he was given his spiritual name – Vrajendra Kumar Das.

Since then Srila Ashram Maharaj was a sublime servant in the sacred mission of his spiritual master, and a natural leader beloved by the community of devotees.

After the disappearance of Srila Prabhupada in 1977, Srila Ashram Maharaj for the first time traveled to India in 1978, to participate in  the annual celebration of Gaura Purnima, and later he visited India in 1982.  At that time, Srila Maharaj Ashram got the sacred darshan of His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Founder Acharya of  Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, situated on the banks of the sacred Ganges River.

Attracted by the divine personality of Srila Sridhar Maharaj and the nectar of his teachings, Srila Ashram Maharaj took shelter at his lotus feet  and accepted Srila Sridhar Maharaj as  his sannyasa guru. He was given the name – Bhakti Kusum Ashram.

Srila Ashram Maharaj began to serve the sacred mission of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math and preach enthusiastically the glories of this Math, in Mexico and other countries.  He established the first center of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math in Mexico in 1982. 

Srila Sridhar Maharaj returned to the abode of the Lord in 1988. His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj succeeded him.  Srila Govinda Maharaj protected the world-wide community of devotees and Srila Maharaj Ashram was one of his intimate servants. Each year, Srila Maharaj Ashram spent six months in the association of Srila Gurudev.

In 1988 Srila Ashram Maharaj Ashram for the first time in the history published "The Bhagavata", by Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur, in Spanish. “The Guardian of Devotion" was published in 1994. Many other publications in Spanish followed it. 

 In August 1993, the Mission Sri Chaitanya Saraswat in Mexico was officially registered by the Government under the name "The Church of Lord Chaitanya, as has been presented by Srila Saraswati Thakur, A. R. ", with centers in Celaya, Guadalajara, Merida, Mexico, D. F. , Monterrey, Morelia, Orizaba, Ticul, Tijuana and Veracruz.

Srila Maharaj Ashram accompanied Srila Govinda Maharaj in some of his international tours, and was with him during each of his eight visits to the centers in Mexico, in the years 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2007.

On the 4th of December 2009, His Divine Grace Srila Govinda Maharaj proclaimed Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj to be his Successor President Acharya. A few weeks later, he appointed His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Kusum Ashram Maharaj as the Acharya of his mission in Mexico, to the delight of all the devotees in the Mexican Republic. In the early morning of March 27, 2010, Srila Gurudev left this world, surrounded by his beloved and most intimate associates, including Srila Ashram Maharaj.

Since then Srila Ashram Mahraj continues to serve Vaisnava community in Mexico and world-wide.
